About the Author:

Venki Ramakrishnan (Venkatraman Ramakrishnan) is a Nobel Prize-winning Indian-born American-British structural biologist famous for mapping the atomic structure of the ribosome, crucial for protein synthesis, work that earned him the 2009 Nobel Prize in Chemistry. He is a prominent scientist at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge and served as President of the Royal Society from 2015 to 2020.
