About the Author:

Sven Hassel was the pen name of Børge Willy Redsted Pedersen, a Danish author famous for bestselling, gritty, semi-autobiographical novels about German penal soldiers in World War II, though his claims of extensive wartime service were later disputed, revealing a complex history as a Danish collaborator with the Nazis before his writing career. He wrote 14 novels, including Legion of the Damned, focusing on camaraderie and the horrors of war, selling millions of copies worldwide before his death in 2012.
